CUPCCAA

California Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting Act (CUPCCAA)

About CUPCCAA

The San Diego Unified School District Board of Trustees has adopted the California Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting Act (CUPCCAA) in accordance with California Public Contract Code §22000 et seq..

CUPCCAA allows the District to use negotiated contracts or simplified bidding procedures for eligible public works projects, helping projects move forward more efficiently while maintaining fair and competitive contracting opportunities.

Contracts Value Thresholds

The District uses different procurement methods based on the estimated cost of a project:

  • $75,000 or less: The District may complete the work using its own employees or negotiate a contract with a contractor directly.
  • Between $75,000 and $220,000: Projects may be awarded using the informal bidding process.
  • More than $220,000: Projects are awarded through the formal bidding procedure.

CUPCCAA Notification List

Pursuant to the provisions outlined in Public Contract Code section 22034(a), at least once per calendar year, the District will invite all licensed contractors to submit information for inclusion on the District's CUPCCAA Notification List.  A contractor may request to be added to the list at any time by providing the required information.

If your company would like to be notified of informal bids and be included for negotiated contract opportunities, please register here.
