Learning Environment

Our school promotes a positive learning environment for students. A school counselors provides opportunities for students to learn about good work habits, develop problem-solving skills, resolve conflicts, and enhance self-esteem.

Class Size

To ensure each student receives an appropriate level of individual attention and support, class sizes are kept as small as possible. In grades K-3, each class has a maximum of 24 students. In grades 4 and 5, each class has a maximum of 35 students.

Diversity

The mixture of cultures and languages of our students results in person classrooms and additional opportunities for learning, teamwork and appreciation of one another.

Library

Students are encouraged to use the school's Library. Library cards are issued at the beginning of each school year. Each student is given a library card application which requires the signature of a parent or guardian. A library card will be issued to the student upon receipt of an appropriately signed application. Parents are financially responsible for books that are not returned to the Library.

As a parent or family member, you are welcome to visit our library and check out a book too! We even have a selection of books just for parents! The selection of books includes topics such as assisting your child with homework, divorce, blending families, discipline, ADHD, family fun without the TV, and more. Please stop by sometime and check out our selection.

Garden

Parent volunteers provide and maintain a beautiful campus garden for students to enjoy during recess and classroom projects. Each classroom is provided an area of land to grow vegetables, cotton, flowers, etc.

Parent volunteers are always welcome and needed to help maintain the garden and to assist with classroom projects. Contact the school office if you would like to volunteer!

Science Lab/Maker Space

In 2016, PBE received a 'Project Lead the Way' Grant. This grant will assist all students in receiving cutting edge STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) curriculum units of study. Students will investigate all disciplines with a scientific lens and learn to code. Our science lab will be outfitted with versatile learning furniture that adapts to the needs of the lesson. All furniture is movable and allows students to interact in a variety of learning structures.
